International Organization Development (OD) training (open and in-house)

Process consultation as professional help for managers and change consultants

For 15 years, Como has been offering OD training internationally. The training courses are aimed at managers who want to shape change in their organizations with behavioral science-based approaches, as well as consultants who want to support managers in this process. They take place in 5 one-week courses (in face-to-face mode) or an equivalent mix of online events and face-to-face modules (in hybrid mode).
The focus of the training lies on competence development through experiential learning the training group constituting the primary place of learning. A theoretical foundation based on the Gestalt approach and a systemic understanding of organization provides orientation. Part of the competence-centered concept is the practice of an attitude of “professional growth support” as a process consultant – in the leadership as well as in the consultation role. The independent exploration of social situations is practiced, thus ensuring the ability to act in different contexts – irrespective of the fundamental influence of the organizational development approach by its “milieu of origin”.
A selection of proven tools is presented and their possible applications and limitations are conveyed without diluting the focus on attitude and personal exploration. Our understanding is closer to Weick’s “drop your tools” than to the often quoted “well-stocked toolbox”. The successful application of the skills taught by our alumni – so far we have conducted 3 courses in Indonesia, 2 courses in Pakistan, 1 course in Vietnam and 2 courses in Tunisia as well as a hybrid regional course (East Africa/Mashriq) – have encouraged us to systematically develop this focus further.
